Sample Menu

The focus of the menu is around fresh, healthy homemade meals cooked on site with fresh fruit served with every meal. All the meals are healthy, nutritionally balanced and provide the protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, fats and fibres required by the children. The menu caters for a wide variety of requirements including allergies, religion, or lifestyle choices and reflects the diversity of the nursery in including some multicultural dishes.

Lunch Jacket potatoes with tuna mayonnaise with crudités

Tuesday
Breakfast Choice of Weetabix and / or hot buttered toast
Lunch Vegetable stir fry with noodles
Dessert Homemade rice pudding, Fruit selection
Tea Toasted muffins with cream cheese and carrot sticks, Fruit selection
Wednesday
Breakfast Choice of Weetabix and / or hot buttered toast
Lunch Spaghetti Bolognaise made with turkey mince and a homemade tomato and vegetable sauce and pasta with grated cheese and served with crudités
Dessert Homemade rice pudding, Fruit selection
Tea Toasted crumpets with jam, Fruit selection
Thursday
Breakfast Choice of Weetabix and / or hot buttered toast
Lunch Savoury basmati rice with red lentils and steamed vegetables served with grated cheese
Dessert Natural organic yoghurt and honey, >Fruit selection
Tea Cheese and tuna sandwiches, Fruit selection
Friday
Breakfast Choice of Weetabix and / or hot buttered toast
Lunch Macaroni cheese and peas served with crudités
Dessert Mandarin jelly, Fruit selection
Tea Breadsticks, carrots and cucumber sticks with cream cheese, Fruit selection

Additional Notes

  • Children can help themselves to water at any time during the day and are offered water to drink at snack time and water or milk with breakfast, lunch and tea.
  • Vegetable stir fry: vegetables such as broccoli, carrots, mange tout, baby corn lightly fired in a vegetable oil with a taste of soy sauce, Chinese five spice and ginger.
  • Crudités: a selection from the following raw carrot & cucumber sticks, red peppers, cherry toms, sugar snap peas, mange tout, baby sweet corn. This will be served with most meals and children can help themselves from a platter on each table.
  • Fresh homemade tomato and vegetable sauce: smooth blended Italian style mild garlic and tomato sauce with vegetables e.g. onions, peppers, mushrooms, celery and leeks.
  • Meals are adapted to accommodate vegetarians or children with allergies. Examples include using wheat free pasta, soya instead of dairy, halal chicken.
